
Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic – Grupo PUNTACANA celebrated the sixth annual Punta Cana Carnival on March 9th at Boulevard November 1st, located in PUNTACANA Village, opposite the Punta Cana International Airport. The celebration officially begann at 3:30pm with a parade of international delegations from Aruba, Curacao, Haiti and Saint Martin, as well as a selection of the very best from the Dominican Republic.
The parade featured more than fifteen of the top carnival troupes and was alive with colorful costumes and masks to showcase the cultural traditions and folklore of the country to thousands of locals and tourists from around the world. At 7:30pm, a live concert featuring music styles such as merengue, bachata and reggaeton marked the official end of Carnival.
Entrance to the Punta Cana Carnival is free, but tickets to sit on a stage during the event are available for $15.00 each.
On Friday, March 8, the Carnival Grand Gala took place at PUNTACANA Galerias. Guests enjoyed local music, wore costumes and interacted with the performers who participated the following day. This event was sponsored by Brugal & Co.
Started in 2008 and held annually during the second week of March, the Punta Cana Carnival is the result of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of Grupo PUNTACANA. Developed by the PUNTACANA Foundation, the Punta Cana Carnival is a cultural contribution to the country and seeks to promote Dominican culture and folklore throughout the world, especially to the thousands of tourists visiting Punta Cana every year.
The Punta Cana Carnival is organized by Grupo PUNTACANA and is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Brugal & Co., Grupo Rica, CTN, Listin Diario, Claro, and Presidente.
