NEW HOME RENTAL PROGRAMS
Dear Property Owners:
Please receive a most cordial greeting. We are pleased to announce that the Puntacana Resort & Club’s Hospitality Management staff is working on repositioning, enhancing and expanding our home rental program.
Several factors have affected the proper development of our current home rental program. As a result, it has not delivered the desired outcome. During the past months, we have been working with professionals to adequately organize and market this product and meet the needs of our property owners.
We clearly understand that the home rental program can and should be an efficient tool to generate revenue for both the home owner and the hospitality area. Presenting you with our project will give us all valuable feedback. This constructive feedback will be implemented in specific areas of operations and will help us comprehend and address your needs. This new pilot program is a work in progress, so we ask for your input as well as for your patience throughout the first months of its implementation, while tweaks will probably still be required in order to adjust it and assure the overall success of the program.
The Estates Experience Home Rental Program will essentially operate as a hotel within Puntacana Resort & Club. The Hospitality Department will establish the rates offered, according to similar programs in the Caribbean and to market conditions. The revenues will be split between the property owner and the resort. Do note that Puntacana Resort & Club is committing a 10% of the resort’s share for direct marketing purposes of this program. We are working with well established home rental program websites like The Society of Leisure Enthusiasts, a company that was recommended by Leading Hotels of the World. Established home rental program websites do charge a commission, which will be added later on and will be deducted from the property owners’ part of the split. The attached document will provide you with an explanation of the program.
Some of you have expressed that you do not wish to participate in a structured program, preferring the flexibility of determining the rates for your home and the split commission you are willing to share. Therefore, we have also created the Sporadic Rental Program. This program will work on a rent by rent basis. In this case, we would contact you any time there is a request for a home and have no availability in our The Estates Experience Home Rental Program or if the request is very specific and matches your home type (e.g., 6 bedrooms homes which are not that usual, pool and Jacuzzi, on the golf course and with ocean view, etc). This program is further explained in the attached document.
I will personally contact some of you directly as we are going to have a Tortuga Bay Home room category, as a result we will add a small number of homes to our Tortuga Bay inventory. These homes will be selected considering location and specific features. The homes selected will be marketed as part of the Tortuga Bay Hotel, a member of the distinguished Leading Small Hotels of the World and part of the Virtuoso network. Property owners invited to consider participating in this program will receive additional information on a separate communication.
Enhancements and changes in our new website will be made to efficiently promote these home rental programs that we expect to launch on August 1st. The set date for the launching of these programs provides us with enough time to take advantage of the remaining summer and winter seasons.
We would love to see you personally or speak over the phone, so that you can make an informed decision regarding your participation in our programs. I will be on vacation as of tomorrow and returning to the office on July 1st. I would be more than happy to talk to anyone who has questions after that date. I will also be available around the La Cana Clubhouse during Owners Weekend and more than happy to talk to any of you who are here personally about the programs.
We have gotten great feedback so far for participation in our 2nd Owners Weekend and the resort is preparing a very fun weekend for you and your family. The Puntacana radar is projecting the weather that weekend to be sunny and fabulous! so if you haven’t made up your mind, you still have time to make it down here!

Golf Practice Facilities Opening Today!




Dear Property Owners:
We are happy to announce to you that today we are oficially re-opening our La Cana/Hacienda golf practice facilities.
The facilities have a fantastic double sided driving range with over 75,000 square feet of teeing area, two practice greens, two green side bunkers and one fairway bunker.
The facility will have two designated covered areas to protect the golfer from the elements while practicing. These will be installed in the next 10 days.
We have 8 new target greens and the distances will be measured by GPS on a daily basis and the distances will be displayed for the golfers.
Our Callaway driving range balls will be stacked on the driving range ready for use.
For homeowners that have an annual golf fee or players that pay a daily green fee, practice facilities and balls will be included.
For those that only want to practice there will be special homeowner prices and special resort practice facility annual fees.
Lessons and clinics will also be available from our PGA golf professionals which will be able to be done in English, Spanish, French and German.
Please inquire at the La Cana Golf Pro-Shop for more detailed information.

Leading Hotels of the World Commitment to Quality Award 2008- Tortuga Bay


Dear Property Owners:
Looking thru some information I realized that I had never informed you of a very important award that Puntacana Resort & Club has achieved.
Leading Hotels of the World does an annual quality inspection in each of the close to 400 hotels & resorts that are under the Leading brand all over the world.
This inspection is done by an outside company that does Leading Hotels and other luxury brands comparable to Leading Hotels of the World.
Leading Hotels of the World uses two categories to separate the hotels of its brand separating them by size. Leading Hotels of the World are hotels that are 100 rooms or more and Leading Small Hotels of the World are hotels of 100 rooms or less. (Tortuga Bay is a Leading Small Hotel of the World)
At the end of the year 2 winners (one Leading and one Leading Small) for each of the following regions are announced:
Africa & Middle East
Asia & Pacific
Europe
Mexico, the Caribbean & South America
USA & Canada
For the year 2008, Tortuga Bay was one of the two winners for Mexico, the Caribbean & South America getting the best overall score for the region and getting one of the top scores in the world.
As you can imagine we are very proud of this achievement that belongs to all of us and we are very proud of the Tortuga Bay staff that was a very big part of achieving this award.

Commitment to Quality Awards
The winners of the Seventh Annual Commitment to Quality Awards were also announced, recognizing Leading Hotels and Leading Small Hotels in five regions: Africa/Middle East, Asia/Pacific, Europe, Mexico/Caribbean/South America, and the United States of America/Canada. The winners were those properties which achieved the highest scores during their most recent Leading Hotels’ anonymous inspections. A special award was also given to the hotel that achieved the highest inspection score overall.

Leaders Club Awards
The winners of the Tenth Annual Leaders Club Awards were revealed at a gala dinner at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. The principal criteria in determining the winners were responses to post-stay questionnaires and letters received by the Leaders Club Services Department from Club members themselves.
Taking the Gold Award this year was Shilla Seoul, Seoul, Korea; the Silver Award was presented to San Clemente Palace Hotel & Resort, Venice, Italy; and the Bronze Award went to Hotel Raphael, Paris, France.
Juan Gaspart Award
Finally, the winner of Sixth Annual Juan Gaspart Award, recognizing an outstanding employee of a Leading Hotel pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, was announced.
The winner of the award was Mr. Colin Field, head bartender at Ritz Paris. Mr. Field was the author of a 500-word essay on the topic of “Staff Creativity: Helping Hotels Stay Competitive in Challenging Times” selected from dozens submitted from around the world.
