Save the Children and Puntacana Resort Host 8th edition of the Save the Children – Gulf Polo Cup supporting Children's Education

Punta Cana, La Altagracia - Save the Children successfully hosted the 8th edition of the Save the Children - Gulf Polo Cup at the Puntacana Polo Club, Puntacana Resort. This traditional tournament, supported by over 70 companies, raised over 6 million pesos for literacy programs in the Capotillo area, where the organization has been active since 2020.
This year, the event honored Don José Horacio Marranzini Turull, affectionately known as "Sancocho," in recognition of his outstanding career in the world of polo.
The team, “Bienvenida Punta Cana - Blue Label Polo Team”, emerged victorious in both the Cup and the National Championship, defeating Team GxD in an exciting final with a score of 10-8. The winning squad included Mauricio Bogaert, Juan Tomás Díaz, Agustín Arrestizábal, and Modesto Constanza, while the runner-up team featured Rafael García, Federico Ramos, Roberto García, and Teto Castillo.
Mauricio Bogaert was recognized as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, and the Best Playing Pony award went to Tequila, owned by the Puntacana Polo Club, presented by Mrs. Antonia Freites.
The event also featured the notable participation of teams La Patrona and Barceló Imperial, showcasing talent and camaraderie. Reyson Pimentel and Jesica Rizik provided lively event hosting, adding a special touch to the sports day.
Juan Tomás Díaz, president of Save the Children Dominican Republic, thanked all participating teams for their commitment to children's causes in the country. "Thanks to the polo community and our allied companies, we have raised over 50 million pesos across various editions of the tournament. Our goal is to establish this cup as a symbol of solidarity and support for child development in the Dominican Republic," he expressed. Funds raised will support emerging literacy and mathematics programs in the El Túnel and La 42 neighborhoods of Capotillo, focusing on children in grades one through four, aiming to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills and improve educational quality.
