Puntacana Resort Successfully Hosts the 3rd International Women’s Polo Cup at Puntacana Polo Club

Punta Cana, La Altagracia. – Puntacana Resort successfully hosted the 3rd International Women’s Polo Cup at the Puntacana Polo Club, consolidating the event as one of the leading women’s polo tournaments in the Caribbean and strengthening the destination’s positioning within international sports tourism.
The tournament featured players from Argentina, Colombia, Switzerland, Russia, Venezuela, Canada, the United States, England, Italy, and the Dominican Republic, reflecting the global nature of the competition and the growing interest in women’s polo across the region.
Tournament Results
Team Arajet was crowned champion of this third edition after an outstanding performance. The quartet—Fiona Kempton, Lydia Williamson, Daniela Luque, and Martina Gadea—delivered a high-level final against KIA/Autoasesores, made up of Rachel Pratola, Fiona McKelvie, Eliane Bruhin, and Clara Martínez Ferrario, who finished in second place.
In the subsidiary category, APANI, represented by Rachel White, Mary Jo Reinhart, Tess Maurice, and Juana Deramo, claimed the title, while Barceló, composed of Laura Bancroft, Eva Sevostyanova, Praxila Trabattoni, and Alexia Laprida, secured second place.
The day concluded with an exciting match in which the Apani quartet defeated KIA/Autoasesores 5–3. On offense, Martina Gadea and Lydia Williamson stood out, supported by Daniela Luque and Fiona Kempton. Williamson was named “Most Valuable Player of the Final”, while the horse “Monja”, ridden by Gadea and owned by Zoilo Hernández, received the “Best Playing Pony” award of the day.
In the earlier match, Apani edged Arajet Airlines by a narrow 3–2 margin in a highly intense game that reaffirmed the tournament’s competitive level.
The Beginning of a New Chapter for Puntacana Polo Club
During the opening ceremony, Juan Tomás Díaz announced that Puntacana Resort has hired Battro, a firm internationally recognized for the quality of its equestrian developments, to build two new polo fields. This project will mark a new stage for the sport in the country and reflects a commitment to positioning the Dominican Republic as an international sports reference.
The inauguration of these facilities is scheduled for April, as part of the club’s expansion plan aimed at strengthening polo practice and meeting the growing interest from athletes and visitors.
